Microsoft have announced that you will now receive a much more descriptive alert when attempting to work with some locked OneDrive Sync Office files.
How could this affect you?
You will notice a new alert will replace the generic ‘Processing Changes’ status in the OneDrive sync app in the following scenarios:
- When someone makes an edit to a file in the Office desktop app while they are working offline or the OneDrive Sync all is not running.
- When they then close the Office desk top app.
- When someone comes back online and another person has the same file open in edit mode in the Office web app.
- The user with pending local changes would previously see ‘Processing Changes’ as the status in the OneDrive Sync app but with this update they will see a warning letting them know that they need to open the file in the Office desktop app in order for the local changes to sync:

There is nothing you need to do to prepare for this change.
When will this update happen?
This update will be enabled in early September and Microsoft expect roll out to be complete in late September.
