New Conversation Settings in Twitter
August 13, 2020

If you’re a Twitter Fan, you may have noticed a new setting that arrived this week, which allows you to choose who can reply to your tweet with 3 options:

  • Everyone (standard default setting)
  • Only people you follow
  • Only people you mention

The idea behind these settings is that ‘unwanted replies don’t get in the way of meaningful conversations.’

If you choose one of the latter two settings, your tweet will be labeled as such, and the reply icon will be greyed out for people that can’t reply.

However, people who can’t reply can still view, Retweet, Retweet with comment, share and like your post.

Twitter have reported a positive impact when these settings were being tested, so much so that they have rolled them out to everyone.

What do you think? Let us know!
