Adding your O365 Mailbox to your iPhone

There are 2 ways to add a new mailbox to your phone – either through your iPhone’s built-in mail app or by downloading the Outlook app from the App Store. Both are really easy to do; here’s how!


Adding your new mailbox onto your phone

Option 1: using the built-in mail app

On your iPhone/iPad, choose Settings and go to Accounts & Passwords  > Add Account > Exchange.











Enter your email address and a description for the mailbox (this could be your company name or simply ‘work email’).










Press Next in the top right-hand of the screen.

You will then be asked if you want to sign into your new email account using Microsoft.  Choose Sign In.

Enter your Office 365 password and click Sign In. You can then agree to the permissions by clicking Accept.











You will then be asked to choose which data you want to sync with your iPhone/iPad – usually this would be Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Notes. Once confirmed, tap Save in the top right-hand corner.










Your new mailbox will now be downloaded to the phone, including all the email contacts and calendar invites that were previously synced with your device from your old mailbox.

To access the new mailbox, click the mail icon at the bottom of the screen and you will see your new inbox listed.












Option 1: downloading the Outlook app

To download the Outlook app, visit the App Store and click the search icon in the bottom right-hand corner and type ‘outlook’ in the search bar.

Click Get to start downloading the app. You will be asked to enter your password or use touch ID to confirm you want to go ahead. Once the app has downloaded, click open.











Enter the email address of the mailbox you want to add and then click Add Account.











You will be asked to authenticate your account. Click the Open Authenticator button and you will be taken to the Authenticator app where you will be asked to enter your O365 password and then press Sign in.











Your new mailbox has now been downloaded.

You will then be taken into the Outlook app, where they will offer you a quick tutorial, which you can either take or skip.

The next screen will be your inbox. You will be asked if you want to Enable Notifications, and you can choose if you want to receive an alert when new emails are delivered.










You can now use Outlook on your iPhone/iPad just as you would on your PC, with each device being synced.


Removing a mailbox

You also have the option to remove a mailbox from your iPhone/iPad.

Choose Settings and scroll down to Accounts & Passwords.

Tap on the mailbox you want to remove and then scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Delete Account.
